Constellation's Volaris acquires Brazil's Teknisa in foodservice software push
What's the deal? Volaris GroupDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, the acquisition arm of Canadian software company Constellation Software, has acquired TeknisaDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Brazilian developer of management systems for corporate catering, restaurants, and food retail. The deal value was not disclosed.
Who is Teknisa? Founded in Belo Horizonte 36 years ago, the company serves more than 900 corporate clients in Brazil and employs around 600 people. Its software spans kitchen and dining management, self-service, delivery, and administrative, financial, and human resources functions for businesses, schools, hospitals, and restaurants.
What changes? Teknisa joins Volaris Latam, the group's Latin American portfolio, but will keep its own brand, team, and operations — the model Volaris applies to the companies it buys.
Why now? The acquisition extends Volaris's reach in vertical-market software, the segment where it concentrates its dealmaking. It targets companies with established market positions, solid business models, and long-term client relationships.
"Teknisa has a strong position in its market and has built a close relationship with clients, qualities we look for in the companies that become part of Volaris," said Eduardo Miyaki, head of M&A for Volaris in Latin America, who led the deal.
For Teknisa, the sale is framed as a growth move. "Being part of Volaris opens new growth possibilities for the company, while preserving the closeness with clients and the quality of work we have built over these years," said George Lima, co-founder and co-chief executive officer of Teknisa (translated from Portuguese).
The signal: Constellation, listed in Toronto, has built its business by steadily acquiring niche vertical software firms and running them autonomously. The Teknisa purchase deepens that playbook in Latin America, targeting a specialised foodservice market where entrenched local vendors are prime consolidation candidates.
