Pateo closes acquisition of chip-design firm valued at US$371.3M

What's the deal? PATEO CONNECT Technology (Shanghai) CorporationDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has completed its acquisition of a controlling stake in a chip-design company, the Hong Kong-listed group (HK:2889) announced in October. Following the October 2, 2026 closing of the share transfer agreement, Pateo now holds about 70% of the target's issued shares.

The price: An independent valuation using a market approach assessed 100% of the target's equity at US$371.3M as of December 31, 2025. That figure reflected the company's R&D capabilities, product portfolio, customer relationships, and commercialisation potential.

What's the endgame? The target becomes a non-wholly owned subsidiary, with its financial results consolidated into Pateo's accounts. Management pointed to synergies from integrating the business, which operates in radio frequency front-end and optical communication electrical chip fields.

Why now? Pateo is betting on rapid growth in China's semiconductor sectors. Its strategy centres on acquiring and integrating chip-design businesses to strengthen its product range, customer base, and technical reach.

The deal gives investors increased exposure to advanced semiconductor-related technologies, the company said. Pateo is a joint stock company established in China and listed in Hong Kong, with a current market cap of US$1.03B.

The signal: The acquisition marks another step in the consolidation of China's domestic chip-design industry, as listed players scoop up specialist firms to build scale in strategically prized segments.
