Boeser buys Vion's Crailsheim slaughterhouse, returns to slaughtering

What's the deal? German meat processor Boeser Frischfleisch has completed its acquisition of VionDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →'s slaughterhouse in Crailsheim, Baden-Württemberg. The deal value was not disclosed. With the purchase, the Rhineland-based cutting operation re-enters the slaughtering business.

Why now? The deal ends what the trade press described as a years-long limbo over the site's future. Employees and customers now have certainty, and slaughtering has resumed immediately.

What's the endgame? Boeser had operated as a cutting and processing specialist. Owning the Crailsheim site lets it return to slaughtering, giving it more control over its supply chain.

The signal: The transaction fits a broader reshuffling of German slaughter capacity as Vion offloads domestic sites. For Boeser, picking up an established facility is a fast route to vertical integration in a consolidating meat industry.
