Stealth's dead? Starlink and Starshield could turn the sky into one giant radar

A thread on X on 30 September 2026 argued that SpaceX's satellite constellations are becoming a sensing system as much as a communications network. Defence commentator @J1MMYJAMJAM described Starlink as "a giant, phased array radar in space" and concluded that "stealth's dead", quoting simulated radar imagery published the same day by physicist Luiz (@AWeirdPhysicist).

For SpaceX, the argument positions Starlink and Starshield as dual-use defence infrastructure beyond connectivity, alongside its launch and Space Force contracts. The claim that stealth is "dead" remains the authors' view; detection, tracking and weapons-grade targeting are different thresholds, and the NRO does not disclose the capabilities of its satellites.
