Announced September 30, 2026, the deal pairs Economize's FinOps software with OpenMetal's dedicated cloud and GPU infrastructure under one provider.

What each side brings: OpenMetal delivers hosted private cloud, bare metal servers, GPU clusters, and Ceph storage. Economize helps engineering, finance, and FinOps teams monitor spend across AWSDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, GCPDealroom has a profile for this one. Why now? Most businesses run a mix of cloud services, with AI and GPU spend claiming a growing share of budgets. Few get fair unit economics from a vendor that stands behind their infrastructure, the company said.

The product: Labs is OpenMetal's fifth offering and is available now. It consults on complex infrastructure and cost problems to build custom solutions — work both companies did independently for years. OpenMetal once built a hosting provider a tuned Ceph cluster standard configurations couldn't handle; Economize built custom reporting and alerts for advanced engineering teams.

What's the endgame? "Infrastructure-heavy businesses have needed a FinOps tool and an infrastructure vendor that understands their cost structure, and rarely got both from the same place," said Todd Robinson, co-founder and president of OpenMetal. Customers moving to private infrastructure get an easier transition, while hybrid setups get ongoing monitoring across all workloads.

What changes for customers? "We started Economize to give teams transparency into public cloud spend," said Anirudh Murali, co-founder and CEO of Economize. "With OpenMetal, we can help them act on it, building the right mix of public and private cloud for their workloads and balancing cost and performance as they scale."

The signal: As AI workloads push infrastructure bills higher, the line between cost visibility and cost control is blurring. Bundling FinOps tooling with the underlying infrastructure signals a market moving toward accountable, end-to-end providers rather than separate tools and vendors.
