What does Kuro do? Its platform ingests the hundreds of thousands of documents behind a construction project and links them into a single data model, layered with each contractor's own rulebook of components and review criteria. It flags contradictions between drawings and specifications, evaluates subcontractor bids, and processes public tenders.
Why it matters: Contractors' teams spend roughly half their time sifting through project data, and a single missed contradiction can cost millions. Kuro says customers save around 90 hours per bid, and 70% of users report it surfaced information they would otherwise have missed.
Why now? EU member states invested around €1.6 trillion in construction in 2025, even as the industry loses expertise — about 19,800 German construction workers retired in 2024, taking hard-won knowledge with them.
"An industry that forgets faster than it learns cannot deliver on these contracts," said Lea Scherer, chief executive officer of Kuro TechnologyDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →.
What's the endgame? Kuro started with estimating and plans to expand across the back office, into procurement, accounting, and compliance. Co-founder and chief product officer Jonas Minkler said the goal is "building a system that learns and gets better with every project."
Traction: Six of Kuro's 12 customers rank among the 20 largest general contractors in the German-speaking region, including GoldbeckDealroom has a profile for this one. "We price more bids with the same team, but that's a side effect," said Nils Köster, chief executive officer of Köster GmbH. "What matters is that we spot risks in the tender quickly, before we submit our price."
The signal: The round sits above the 91st percentile for early-stage venture deals in German real estate, underlining investor appetite for tools that turn construction's fragmented, expertise-dependent workflows into durable software as the sector faces a building boom and a retiring workforce.
