What's the deal? ChimcomplexDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, Romania's largest chemicals producer, has signed a €55 million loan agreement with affiliated company CRC Impex ChemicalsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, its lead lender. The deal, disclosed to the Bucharest Stock ExchangeDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, was signed on September 28.

How it's structured: The financing starts with an initial €11.2 million tranche, plus a credit line of up to €43.8 million drawable over six months. The loan is secured and carries interest set at the average rate the company pays on its existing credit agreements.

What the money is for: The bulk goes to buying greenhouse gas emission certificates to meet obligations under the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS). Funds will also cover working capital, rising electricity and gas costs, and ongoing projects, including electrolysis plant upgrades and photovoltaics.

The numbers: Chimcomplex posted a net loss of 56.1 million lei in the first half of 2026 — double a year earlier — on revenue down 11% to 543 million lei. Its shares have fallen 36% over the past year, valuing the company at 1.8 billion lei.

Why now? High energy prices and mandatory carbon costs are squeezing European chemicals makers, and the affiliate loan gives Chimcomplex liquidity to stay compliant while its results deteriorate.

The signal: At €55 million, this is a modest raise — in the bottom tenth of comparable deals — reflecting a defensive move to fund compliance and operations rather than fresh expansion. For an energy-intensive producer under margin pressure, related-party debt has become a practical way to bridge mounting regulatory and input costs.
