Try Dealroom → (VGG) has acquired a minority stake in Frankfurt-based Venios GmbHDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, expanding its push into digital power-grid infrastructure. The deal value was not disclosed.

What does Venios do? Founded in 2012, the company builds Venios.NET, a software platform that merges measurement data, meter readings, and grid records from different systems into a digital twin of the power grid. It helps grid operators analyse current electricity distribution, spot potential bottlenecks early, and plan future expansion through forecasts and simulations.

Venios employs around 25 people and already works with grid operators in Delhi and Zurich, among others.

What's the endgame? Within VGG's portfolio, Venios's software complements the hardware and services of GRITEC GmbHDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, part of the group since 2024. GRITEC supplies ready-to-connect technical buildings and transformer stations, so the stake is meant to create integrated hardware-and-software offerings for energy suppliers and industry.

Why now? With the investment, VGG aims to accelerate the digitalisation of distribution grids and help operators shift from reactive to predictive grid management.

The signal: As Europe electrifies and adds distributed renewable generation, grid operators face mounting pressure to manage congestion in real time. VGG's move to pair grid hardware with predictive software reflects a broader bet that the value in energy infrastructure is shifting toward the digital layer.
