What does Spectrum do? Founded in 1981, Spectrum makes RF and microwave components, modules, and custom solutions for aerospace, defense, space, and commercial applications. Its technologies handle signal protection, conditioning, and processing across complex electronic systems.

What changes? Not much operationally. Spectrum will continue under President and chief executive officer Rich Sorelle and its existing management team, with plans to keep investing in engineering, new products, and manufacturing.

Why now? "Spectrum Control holds designed-in positions on some of the most important defense and aerospace platforms in production today," said Noah Blitzer, managing director at Greenbriar, who pointed to growing customer demand. AEA's Vinay Kumar framed the timing around defense priorities, saying the company is positioned for growth "as intelligence and autonomy become increasingly central to its customers' mission-critical defense and aerospace systems."

The signal: The deal reflects steady private-equity appetite for defense electronics, where specialised, hard-to-replace components command a premium as autonomy and signal processing move to the centre of military systems. For Spectrum, a Greenbriar backer with aerospace and defense experience replaces one financial sponsor with another — continuity rather than upheaval.
