France's Marble raises €6.5M to automate financial compliance

What's the deal? French regtech Marble has raised €6.5 million in an early-stage round from SmartfinDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, Adnexus, Passion Capital, and 42CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. Founded in 2023 and incubated at HexaDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, the startup builds an open-source platform that helps banks and financial institutions fight fraud and money laundering.

What does it do? Marble automates a wide range of compliance tasks, including detecting and analysing alerts, generating reports, and questioning clients automatically. It can be deployed directly on a client's own infrastructure.

The aim, according to cofounder Arnaud Schwartz, is to free up human analysts. "The human can then focus on confirmed alerts and make the final decision, notably when it comes to blocking an account," he said (translated from French).

Why now? Schwartz points to a surge in regulation as the driver. "Between 2010 and 2025, there was a real inflation of regulatory texts," he said, warning that firms which fail to automate "will continue to mobilise growing budgets and human resources, to the detriment of their development."

What's the endgame? Marble runs on a SaaS subscription model and claims around 100 clients. It will use the funding to invest in its product and accelerate sales, targeting larger institutions including traditional banks, with a goal of surpassing €5 million in annual recurring revenue by 2027.

The round follows a €2.1 million seed raise in September 2024. To fuel growth, Marble plans to double its headcount from 13 employees by the end of the year.

The signal: The raise underscores how rising compliance costs are pushing financial institutions toward automation. Marble's bet is that lighter, easier-to-deploy tools can reverse the trend of ever-growing regulatory budgets.
