What's the deal? Momenta FinanceDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has secured a lending facility of up to £50 million from Secure Trust BankDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → to expand its UK property lending business. The alternative lender takes an initial £20 million revolving borrowing base facility, with a further £30 million accordion option.
What's the endgame? The capital funds property acquisitions, refurbishment projects, development finance, bridging, and development exit funding. Momenta said it also gives broker partners more capacity to fund property-backed transactions.
Why now? Momenta has raised more than £400 million through banking and institutional facilities since 2023 as it diversifies its funding sources. The Secure Trust Bank deal is its latest institutional funding relationship.
What could go wrong? The facility ties Momenta's growth to a UK property market that remains sensitive to interest rates and valuations, and the £30 million accordion is an option rather than committed capital.
"The property market continues to present a wide range of opportunities, and we want to be in a position to support our broker partners and their clients when those opportunities arise," said Steven Oliver, head of real estate at Momenta Finance.
Jake Trehaeven, capital markets director, said the deal "will give us additional capacity and flexibility as we continue to grow" across the company's real estate and wider SME lending.
The signal: The facility sits at the larger end of debt deals in the sector, a sign that institutional lenders remain willing to back specialist property financiers even as the market stays cautious.
