Alive App raises $1M seed from Powerhouse and Flipkart Ventures

What's the deal? Alive App, an India-based AI-powered platform for building and distributing local experiences, has raised $1 million in a seed round co-led by Powerhouse VenturesDealroom has a profile for this one. What's the endgame? The company wants to make experiences a habitual part of urban leisure — the "default weekend companion for urban India," in the words of founder and chief executive officer Vivek Kumar. It is targeting 3X revenue growth in the coming months.

Why now? Alive App logged its first profitable quarter in Bengaluru, its first and largest market. It also says more than 90% of bookings are for local experiences, signalling a shift from travel-led activities toward leisure closer to home.

The expansion: Over the past six months, Alive App entered Mumbai, Chennai, and Delhi, adding to its presence in Goa. Supply in those newer markets has grown five times faster than in its initial expansion phase, with roughly 100 new experiences added each month. It now operates across six cities, offering more than 500 experiences and working with over 400 creators and partners.

Investor view: Flipkart Ventures' backing opens potential synergies across the wider Flipkart ecosystem for consumer discovery and access. Powerhouse general partner Kshitij Golwalkar called Alive App "one of the most differentiated and capital-efficient companies we have seen in this category."

The signal: The round is modest — sitting in the lower half of comparable deals by size — but it reflects India's experience economy maturing from an occasional, travel-led activity into regular urban consumption. Alive App's bet is that discovering an experience becomes as routine as choosing a restaurant or a movie.
