Soul Community Planet opens crowdfunding round to fund push toward 2,000 hotel rooms
What's the deal? Soul Community Planet (SCP), a Laguna Beach-based boutique hospitality company, has launched its first public investment campaign, a Regulation Crowdfunding offering that opens the wellness- and sustainability-led hotel brand to individual investors for the first time.
What does it do? Founded by Ken Cruse and Pam Cruse, SCP operates ten properties across California, Oregon, Colorado, Hawaii, and Costa Rica under three brand expressions: SCP WildFree, SCP Hotels, and By SCP. Its model places wellness, local immersion, and environmental programmes alongside conventional lodging.
Why now? The campaign arrives as SCP shifts from seven years of brand development toward a more capital-intensive expansion phase. Regulation Crowdfunding lets eligible US companies sell securities online through an SEC-registered intermediary, and SCP said the round allows the public to invest alongside existing institutional backers.
What's the endgame? SCP wants to consolidate brand ownership, hotel management, and real estate into a vertically integrated platform. Its five-year plan targets roughly $300 million in equity, plus 50% leverage, deployed into more than 2,000 hotel rooms — figures it describes as forward-looking targets subject to disclosed risks.
By the numbers: SCP is supporting its case with preliminary first-half 2026 results. Total revenue across SCP-branded hotels rose 13.5% through the second quarter, direct bookings made up about 64% of the total at quarter's end, and the company reported an average guest Net Promoter Score of 61.4 as of June. These are company-reported measures, not independent assessments.
The signal: The offering tests whether a mission-led hospitality brand can tap retail investors to bankroll a capital-heavy expansion, betting that guests who buy into its Every Stay Does Good programme — credited with helping plant more than 333,800 trees through July 31 — will also buy into the company itself.
