Resilience buys Berlin's Recovery Cat to enter German psychiatry

What's the deal? French medical remote-monitoring firm ResilienceDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired Recovery CatDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Berlin startup born at the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. The deal, announced in September 2026, comes for an undisclosed sum. It brings Resilience a psychiatry platform used in nearly 20 hospitals and medical practices, plus ties to Germany's largest health insurer.

What each side does: Resilience specialises in remote medical monitoring across oncology, gastroenterology, and psychiatry. RecoveryDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → Cat, co-founded by psychiatrist and researcher Jakob Kaminski, lets patients log symptoms, side effects, and personal resources, then review their progress with clinicians.

Why it matters: Recovery Cat holds a contract with Techniker Krankenkasse (TK)Dealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, Germany's biggest health fund. TK's 12.5 million members can use the platform at no cost, while participating clinicians can be paid for follow-up care. Partner sites operate across five German states.

Why now? Germany's digital mental health market is expanding. Public funds spent €42 million on prescribed apps for psychiatric disorders in 2025, nearly a quarter of their spending on prescription health apps, known as DiGA. Roughly 1.1 million hospital stays in 2024 had a mental or behavioural disorder as their main diagnosis.

What's the endgame? The acquisition extends Resilience's deal-making streak: it bought BetteriseDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → in 2021, GutyCareDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → in 2023, and GimliDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → in 2024. Recovery Cat deepens a specialty Resilience already addresses with its psychiatric tool Edra, while adding local reach and a German insurer relationship. The company says it now monitors 42,000 patients across more than 220 facilities.

What could go wrong? The two platforms don't fully overlap. Recovery Cat covers conditions from schizophrenia and bipolar disorder to some personality disorders, while Edra PRO targets adults treated for depressive or manic episodes outside emergencies. Migration must clarify the care pathway for German patients treated for other conditions and preserve clinical data continuity for practitioners.

The signal: Resilience is buying its way into Germany rather than building from scratch, betting that a live insurer contract and hospital footprint beat organic entry. As European digital health funnels through reimbursement channels like DiGA, a paid, clinician-led pathway offers Recovery Cat a route that sets it apart from app-only rivals such as HelloBetter and Selfapy.
