Feather Robotics raises $7.6M seed for its $29,990 developer humanoid

What's the deal? Feather RoboticsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has raised $7.6 million in a seed round led by Gradient, with Builder CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, Geometry, Seed Innovation, and Virgo VC participating. The San Francisco-based company disclosed the funding alongside the launch of its developer-focused wheeled humanoid robot.

What's the endgame? Co-founder and chief executive officer Hoa Mai wants Feather to serve as a common hardware platform on which developers build their own robotics applications, rather than vertically integrating every component. The money will support commercialisation of what it calls an affordable physical-AI development platform.

The product: The robot is priced at $29,990 and features two seven-degree-of-freedom arms, an omnidirectional wheeled base, 600mm of vertical torso travel, and roughly 10 hours of battery life. The launch follows about a year of customer field testing.

Why it stands out: The round ranks in the 91st percentile by size among all-time US seed rounds in robotics, based on a sample of 1,494 deals — a sign of investor appetite for hardware that lowers the barrier to building physical AI.

The signal: Feather is betting that robotics develops like personal computing did — through shared, affordable hardware that many builders can program, not closed systems each company assembles alone.
