The purchase, made from SN Gene's existing shareholders, will turn the company into a subsidiary of Dr Lal PathLabs. It is expected to close by November 30, 2026, and needs no regulatory approvals.

What's the endgame? Dr Lal PathLabs said the goal is to strengthen its expertise in genomics and broaden its portfolio of advanced diagnostic services. SN Gene, incorporated in Gujarat in 2013, provides genomics diagnostic services.

The signal: The deal reflects a wider push by established diagnostics players to move into higher-value genomics testing, adding specialised capabilities through acquisition rather than building them in-house.
