GoodVets buys WellHaven, growing to 116 vet hospitals across the US

What's the deal? GoodVetsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Chicago-based veterinary care company, has acquired WellHaven Pet HealthDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a network of more than 40 hospitals across seven states. Terms were undisclosed. The deal lifts GoodVets' network from 75 to 116 hospitals.

Where it expands: The acquisition extends GoodVets' footprint into new US regions, notably the Pacific Northwest and Midwest. WellHaven's hospitals will over time transition to the GoodVets brand while keeping locally led care and existing community ties.

What each does: Founded in 2016, GoodVets builds hospitals from the ground up in major metropolitan markets, pairing local clinical leaders with centralised support. WellHaven backs its hospitals with modern technology and day-to-day business management so clinicians can focus on patient care.

Why it fits: Both companies pitch a model that frees veterinarians to spend more time practising medicine. "We've built GoodVets hospital by hospital alongside veterinarians who share our values," said co-founder and chief executive officer Ryan Joseph.

What changes for teams: WellHaven's hospital teams will keep serving clients while gaining broader resources and operational support from GoodVets. "They will gain access to broader resources and new opportunities to grow," said WellHaven chief executive officer Justin Scambray.

The signal: The deal reflects continued consolidation in veterinary care, as platform operators roll up independent and networked practices to scale centralised support. GoodVets is betting it can grow through acquisition without losing the local relationships that define its model.
