Hendrix Genetics buys out Danish partners in swine joint venture

What's the deal? Hendrix GeneticsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired full ownership of Hendrix Genetics SwineDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, taking complete control of the joint venture it formed with Danish partners. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Why now? The swine business was created nearly two years ago through a merger of HyporDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and Danish GeneticsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, combining breeding, multiplication, and distribution. Hendrix now calls full ownership "the logical next step" in integrating the two breeding programmes.

What's the endgame? The division becomes the Swine Business Unit within Hendrix's global organisation, which spans layers, turkeys, salmon, trout, shrimp, and broilers across more than 25 countries. Dennis Jørgensen took over as managing director on September 1, 2026.

The integration has already produced Nexus 100, the first product developed after the merger and launched last year. The boar line draws on strengths from both the Hypor and Danish Genetics programmes.

Chief executive Richard Maatman said the transition lets the company "operate with greater clarity, speed, and alignment while continuing to create value for customers around the world." Hendrix says its relationship with the Danish partners will continue, with their farms and network remaining "vital to our success."

The signal: Pig genetics firms are consolidating to spread research and development costs across larger customer bases. Whether full integration speeds up genetic progress or product development remains to be seen.
