Why now? The deal builds on a €10 million credit line BSTDB extended to Microinvest in 2024 — a quick re-raise on the back of early results. By the end of 2025, that first facility had backed 233 sub-loans, including 63 green ones.

What's the endgame? Microinvest channels funding to entrepreneurs and smaller businesses that traditional banks often overlook. At least 50% of the new facility is earmarked for green investments, including energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainable agriculture.

The company: Microinvest leads Moldova's non-banking financial market, with a loan portfolio above MDL 9 billion and more than 52,600 active clients served through 420 staff and 17 offices. "Access to finance remains essential for smaller businesses to invest, grow and adapt," said Dr. Serhat Köksal, president of BSTDB. Microinvest chief executive officer Dumitru Svinarenco pointed to timing: "Entrepreneurs need access to financing at the right moment, when an opportunity or investment need appears."
