B&A buys Intelligent Waves to expand federal cyber platform

What's the deal? B&ADealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired Intelligent Waves, a Reston, Virginia-based provider of cybersecurity, network and systems engineering, and data science services for US defence and intelligence agencies. The deal, announced on September 22, 2026, closed on undisclosed terms.

What's Intelligent Waves? Founded in 2006, it designs and integrates cyber-hardened IT solutions for defence, intelligence, and civilian government customers. Its proprietary technologies — including GRAYPATH, Phantom, and STRIKE — cover secure mobile communications, tactical edge computing, and sensor telemetry and data analytics.

What's the endgame? B&A frames the deal as a step in its evolution into a broader, more integrated federal technology platform. Intelligent Waves' full suite of proprietary technology becomes part of B&A's offering immediately, expanding its talent, technical depth, and past performance across the federal market.

Why it matters: Intelligent Waves' tools have been selected for strategic programs across the Department of Defense, Special Operations Forces, and the Intelligence Community — high-value credentials in a competitive federal contracting space.

"Intelligent Waves brings an exceptional reputation, differentiated capabilities, and a mission-first culture that aligns strongly with B&A's values and long-term strategy," said Jonathan Evans, president and chief executive officer of B&A.

Founder Jared Shepard said joining B&A creates "an exciting opportunity to expand that mission, provide greater capability to our customers, and create new opportunities for our employees."

The signal: The acquisition reflects continued consolidation among federal technology contractors, as firms bundle cyber, engineering, and data capabilities to win larger, mission-critical defence and intelligence programs.
