AlphaYoda raises €900,000 to put a price on reputational risk
What's the deal? AlphaYodaDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Metz-based fintech, has raised €900,000 in an angel round to build technology that measures the financial impact of controversies hitting companies. The round comprises €400,000 in equity from European business angels with backgrounds in finance, risk management and artificial intelligence, plus €500,000 in bank financing. Founded by Axel Bonaldo, Marion Bitoune, Cédric de Saint Léger and Thomas Lagorce, the company closed the round in August 2026, less than a year after launch.
Why now? The raise sits in the lower tier of angel deals, at the 35th percentile by amount. That reflects an early startup securing a first cheque to move from product to European roll-out.
What's the endgame? AlphaYoda's tool detects controversies at listed and unlisted companies, analyses their materiality, then estimates the potential financial hit. It monitors more than five million sources — media, social media, institutional publications and public data — and claims it can move from detection to a quantified figure in under an hour.
Who's it for? The company targets banks, asset managers and private equity funds, a client base heavily present in Luxembourg. It says it already supports several major financial institutions and distribution partners across Europe, but has not named them.
“Reputational risk has become one of the most costly blind spots for financial institutions, and yet it remains largely unmeasured,” said Bonaldo, chief executive officer and co-founder. “Our aim is to make it as clear and actionable as standard financial data.”
What could go wrong? Several of AlphaYoda's claims remain unverified. It describes its technology as “100% sovereign” and independent of non-European infrastructure, but provides no technical detail. It also says it identified nearly €85bn in lost market capitalisation across seven European companies over two years — without disclosing the companies, periods or methodology.
The signal: AlphaYoda is betting that investors want to turn a fuzzy risk into a number they can trade on. A Bank of America study it cites found 24 environmental, social and governance controversies in the S&P 500 tied to $534bn in lost market value — evidence of why the sector is chasing better ways to price reputation. Whether AlphaYoda can prove its methodology will determine if it reaches its goal of profitability by 2027.
