What's the deal? Barksdale ResourcesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has announced a US$10.3M (roughly $10 million) private placement to advance its 67.5%-owned Sunnyside copper project in Arizona's Patagonia mining district. The Vancouver-based miner is also overhauling its leadership, appointing George OgilvieDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → as chairman and Chris Stewart as president and chief executive officer, and naming David Birch chief financial officer.

Why now? The raise follows a 2026 drill program that confirmed porphyry-style copper-molybdenum mineralisation across a large area in the northeast of the Sunnyside property. Barksdale says the placement will fund follow-up work on high-grade copper mineralisation reported earlier.

New faces: Ogilvie is investing alongside new management, replacing prior leadership at the top of the board, while Stewart takes over as president and CEO. The company is also proposing David Lotan and Travis Snider as director nominees at its annual meeting, expected in mid-November 2026.

"The Patagonia district has produced copper for more than a century," said Ogilvie, adding that the high-grade structures around historic mines are "largely untested at depth."

The signal: The round sits in the 91st percentile for non-VC private placements in Canada over the trailing 48 months, marking an unusually large bet in a market where junior miners often struggle to fund exploration. Paired with a rebrand, new leadership, and debt cleanup, Barksdale is positioning for a fresh chapter around copper — a metal central to electrification demand.
