Chinese avionics maker Qingwei raises $7.5M in third round in six months

Try Dealroom →, a Shenzhen-based supplier of high-safety flight control and display systems, has raised more than US$6.88M in an early VC round. China Securities Capital, Optics Valley Sci-Tech Investment, and Jiangxi Financial Holdings Capital led the deal.

Why now? It is the company's third round in six months, following earlier backing from Hillhouse Capital, Sunny CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. The funds will go toward research and airworthiness certification for its DAL A flight control computing platform and smart cockpit display system.

What's the endgame? Founded in 2023, Qingwei builds what it calls the "brain and nervous system" of civilian aircraft — flight control computers and display systems that dictate safe, reliable operation. It is one of few Chinese firms able to independently develop and certify both products at DAL A, civil aviation's highest safety level.

The company says its two product lines share 70% of their underlying technology, covering power, computing modules, drivers, and operating systems.

Why it matters: Founder Guo Qing, who has 21 years in aviation engineering, argues platform reuse cuts costs on both sides. "Platform reuse not only saves significant R&D time, manpower, and capital, but also helps aircraft makers lower the R&D costs and timelines for TC certification," he said (translated from Chinese).

One of its flight control products has already been accepted for independent certification review by the Civil Aviation Administration of China's Chengdu certification centre. Qingwei also reports orders and product deliveries from leading aircraft manufacturers.

The signal: As China's low-altitude economy heats up, capital is shifting from full aircraft assembly toward core onboard systems. Domestic low-altitude investment topped 160 deals worth nearly US$4.13B this year, yet few firms hold true DAL A capability — placing Qingwei in a narrow, defensible segment of the market.
