What's the deal? ABCDxDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Geneva- and Spain-based Medtech company, has been awarded roughly €1.4 million in non-dilutive funding through Spain's Red.IA Salud programme. The money will accelerate EmboCheck, its point-of-care diagnostic for pulmonary embolism. The award is part of a wider programme worth around €3 million.

What's the endgame? EmboCheck is a rapid test combining blood biomarkers, clinical information, and AI-based risk stratification to assess patients with suspected pulmonary embolism, particularly in emergency and pre-hospital settings. The grant will fund the biomarker panel, software, and AI components, plus clinical validation and regulatory work toward future CE marking.

Why now? The award builds on ABCDx's programmes for LVOCheck, its blood-based test for large-vessel occlusion stroke. In August, it also secured an R+D Empresarials grant from ACCIÓDealroom has a profile for this one. What they said: "This grant is an important milestone for ABCDx," said Jean-Charles Sanchez, chief executive officer and co-founder. "Pulmonary embolism remains a major diagnostic challenge, especially when rapid access to laboratory testing or imaging is limited."

The signal: The €1.4 million grant ranks in the top 6% of all-time grant rounds in Spain, a sign of significant public backing for diagnostics that push clinical decisions closer to the patient and earlier in care.
