Ravel raises $8.2M seed to recycle poly-elastane blends

What's the deal? Seattle textile-recycling startup Ravel has raised $8.2 million in a seed round, announced in September 2026. It says its purification process can recycle poly-elastane blends into virgin-quality fibre without a green premium.

What's the endgame? Poly-elastane blends — the stretchy mix behind much of modern apparel — are notoriously hard to recycle. Ravel is betting its process can turn that waste stream into fibre that competes on price with new material.

Why it stands out: The round ranks in the 97.56th percentile among all-time US seed rounds in fashion, based on a sample of 1,574 deals. That places Ravel near the top of early-stage funding in its sector.

The signal: Recycling elastane-heavy fabrics without a cost penalty is a persistent bottleneck in textile circularity. A seed round this size suggests investors see room to close that gap.
