Try Dealroom → to the company's management team in a buyout. GolvimportenDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, based in Borås, specialises in terrazzo, natural stone and ceramic flooring for high-traffic sites such as airports, shopping centres and car showrooms. Terms were not disclosed; the transaction closed on September 15.

Why now? Golvimporten joined Layer Group three years ago, with the goal of close collaboration across the group's flooring businesses. But it has been operating in a challenging market, and after a review, Layer Group concluded the expected synergies never fully materialised.

What's the endgame? The sale is part of Layer Group's push to concentrate on its core business and a leaner structure. "To enable us to focus more effectively on areas where collaboration creates clear value, we believe it is the right time to allow new owners to take Golvimporten forward," says Petter Håkanson, acting group chief executive officer.

Who's buying? The buyers are Golvimporten's own managers, led by chief executive officer and new co-owner Håkan Adelwald. "We see significant opportunities for Golvimporten to further strengthen its position in the market," he says.

The context: Layer Group is Sweden's largest group specialising in surface finishing — painting, flooring, tiling and façades — with roughly 1,500 employees across about 50 companies and around US$290.1M in revenue last year. Golvimporten, with about 30 employees, contributed roughly US$12.1M.

The signal: The divestment reflects a broader pattern of acquisitive groups trimming units that fail to deliver promised synergies, especially in a soft construction market. For Golvimporten, independence under its managers offers a fresh path; for Layer Group, it is one less business to integrate.
