Ecosys raises $520,000 to build a laundry-pod category in India

What's the endgame? Founded by chartered accountants Sumit Goyal and Chirag Dangi, ecosys sells laundry pods — a single-dose alternative to loose detergent powder that removes the need for measuring. It plans to expand across e-commerce and quick-commerce platforms, fund consumer education, and develop new laundry and home cleaning formats.

Why now? Pods are widely used abroad but barely penetrated in India. By ecosys's figures, around two-thirds of US households and about four in 10 UK households use pods, versus under 10% of Indian ones.

What could go wrong? The founders frame the core challenge as education, not the product. "What's missing in India is the work of showing consumers what it replaces and why the price is worth it," said Dangi. "That's a distribution and education problem that we're trying to solve."

The signal: India's household cleaners market is growing faster than the global one, and quick-commerce is reshaping how everyday goods get discovered and bought. Ecosys is betting a convenience-led format can win share from established FMCG players — if it can teach shoppers to pay a premium first.
