CheckMyBus raises 7-figure round to digitise the $70B bus market

Try Dealroom →, a meta-search engine for intercity buses, has raised a seven-figure funding round, the company announced in September 2026. What's the endgame? The Germany-based startup compares real-time prices and availability across more than 3 million weekly bus departures. It will use the money to accelerate international growth, expand bus connections, and strengthen its global brand.

Why now? The $70 billion bus market still processes about 90% of all bookings offline. But liberalisation of EU markets and better products are pushing travel online, opening room for search tools to capture that shift.

What's the market saying? Sascha Hausmann, a partner at Howzat and an early investor in trivago, said meta-search is "predicted to become an equal success story in the bus market comparable to what we have seen for hotels or flights."

Boersch, who has backed more than 200 companies, said CheckMyBus "has shown an impressive speed going international with a high quality product."

The signal: Meta-search reshaped how travellers book flights and hotels. Investors are betting the largely offline bus market is next, and that comparison engines will lead the transition. "We believe that online sales for intercity bus travel will show extraordinary growth in the coming years," said chief executive officer Marc Hofmann.
