Rapta lands $8M seed to bring AI quality control to defense manufacturing

What's the endgame? The company is building a Manufacturing Intelligence Platform aimed at defense and high-precision manufacturing. Its technology automatically tracks every component, work step, and tool used in production, cutting manual documentation and human error.

Why now? Chief executive officer Aaron Brown says a major obstacle to modernising factories is fragmented, proprietary data systems. Rapta's fix: unify that data into a single record so manufacturers can upgrade operations without re-platforming — a pressing need in compliance-heavy sectors.

What's the traction? TRAK TECOMDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Tier 2 maker of RF microwave and antenna solutions, is already using the platform. President Carole Hutchins said the visibility lets her teams "capture crucial manufacturing knowledge," improving efficiency during complex builds.

Diane Fraiman, a managing director at Voyager Capital, framed the stakes plainly: addressing quality is essential to reducing delays and preventing cost overruns as robotics and AI spread across factory floors.

The signal: At $8 million, Rapta's round sits in roughly the 94th percentile of all-time US seed deals in the security sector — a sign of investor appetite for tools that harden defense-linked supply chains. The bet is that unifying factory data, not replacing it, is how legacy manufacturers finally modernise.
