Try Dealroom →, a Brazilian edtech offering AI-powered conversational English, has raised a $15.8 million Series A led by Prosus Ventures, with participation from RethinkDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, Alexia VenturesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, and Endeavor. The round values the company at about $98 million, two years after its 2023 founding.

The product: Beconfident replaces lessons and grammar drills with AI avatars available around the clock for practice via text, audio, and video. It runs inside WhatsApp and its own app, offering unlimited practice with no per-hour cost, aimed at people who avoid speaking English out of embarrassment or lack of access.

The traction: Founded by Robson Amorim, Felipe Tiozo, Luan Cavallaro, and Felipe Silva, the company reports 3 million users and roughly 160,000 paying students. It projects revenue rising from about $11 million in 2025 to near $55 million in 2026.

What's the endgame? The capital funds expansion into the US, Europe, and Asia. Beconfident wants 90% of paying students to come from those markets, turning a Brazilian edtech into a global competitor. Backer Prosus, the investor behind iFood, brings the network for that push.

Why now? At $15.8 million, the round lands in roughly the 80th percentile by size — a notable check for a two-year-old company targeting Duolingo. Beconfident is betting that judgment-free AI conversation, with no per-hour cost, will replace gamified exercises in mass-market language learning.

The signal: Investors are wagering that generative AI can reshape how the world learns languages, and that the challenge to incumbents may come from Latin America. Beconfident's pitch — unlimited practice with an AI that doesn't judge — reframes tutoring as always-on and effectively unmetered, a model traditional edtech has struggled to match.
