What's the endgame? Palo Alto-based Gaia is expanding beyond compliance workflows into strategic trade intelligence, planning, and tariff optimization. Since launching in late 2024, it has built a platform that classifies products, calculates tariffs, audits customs entries, and manages compliance across 48 countries.
The money will fund team growth and new AI capabilities for strategic trade planning, due before year-end.
By the numbers: Gaia's annual recurring revenue grew eightfold over the past 12 months as it added close to 800 accounts, including Fortune 500 importers and exporters, customs brokerages, and law firms. The company says its platform runs at up to 200 times the capacity of manual workflows.
Why now? Trade rules are growing more complex as regulations shift and customs authorities tighten enforcement, raising the cost of errors. "Global trade is changing too quickly for companies to manage it through disconnected systems, spreadsheets, and periodic reviews," said Emil Stefanutti, co-founder and chief executive officer of Gaia Dynamics.
Those pressures have pushed global trade decisions higher up the agenda for chief financial officers, general counsels, and corporate boards.
The signal: At $7 million, the round lands in the top 10% of all-time US seed rounds for enterprise software, based on 12,166 comparable deals. As tariffs reshape sourcing and margins, investors are backing tools that treat trade compliance as a strategic lever rather than a back-office task.
