Kalshi acquires data startup Oddpool months after its $3M seed

What's the deal? Kalshi has acquired OddpoolDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, the prediction market data startup co-founded by Avi Arora and Ritesh Malpani. Terms were not disclosed. The pair came out of Y Combinator this spring and raised a $3M seed to build a data layer that helps institutions, economists, and policymakers treat prediction markets as an asset class.

Why now? Arora said conversations with Kalshi chief executive officer Tarek Mansour convinced the founders they could build faster inside the ecosystem than as an outside partner.

What's the endgame? Oddpool's thesis is that prediction market prices carry information worth pricing off of. "Every trade is a signal and has a piece of information embedded in it," Arora wrote on LinkedIn, adding it is "sourced from millions of participants rather than a committee." Folding that team into Kalshi lets the exchange build institutional-grade tooling in-house rather than lean on third parties.

The signal: Kalshi absorbing a data-infrastructure team suggests prediction markets are maturing from a retail curiosity into something economists and business owners want to price against. As demand for that data grows, expect exchanges to keep pulling the capability closer.
