dormakaba buys hotel software firm Alliants to link door access with guest apps

What's the deal? dormakaba has signed a binding agreement to acquire AlliantsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a UK guest experience software firm whose technology sits behind more than 100,000 hotel rooms. Financial terms were not disclosed. The Swiss access-solutions group expects the deal to close this year, after regulatory approval.

What does Alliants do? Founded in 2009 in Southampton, it builds software and managed services covering the guest journey from pre-arrival onward. Its tools span concierge, contactless check-in, mobile key, payments, messaging, and agentic AI. The company employs more than 100 people and operates globally.

What's the endgame? dormakaba wants to move beyond physical access control and connect room entry with digital guest engagement. Combining Alliants' platform with its own portfolio gives hotels the option of an end-to-end system across access, engagement, and operations.

Why now? "Hotel owners and operators increasingly view access and guest experience as part of the same strategy," said chief executive officer Till Reuter, calling hospitality "a key growth vertical for dormakaba."

Alliants founder and chief executive officer Tristan Gadsby framed the logic similarly. "Access and guest experience stopped being separate problems some time ago; the industry's tooling just hasn't caught up," he said, noting that dormakaba operates in more than 130 countries.

What about lock-in? Both companies say they will stay interoperable with other providers across the tech stack. That leaves hotels free to keep working with other hardware manufacturers and software partners.

The signal: The deal reflects a convergence in hospitality technology, where the door lock and the guest app are increasingly treated as one system rather than two. By pairing hardware scale with software, dormakaba is betting hotels will pay for a single route through both.
