Fime buys Red Alert Labs to add cybersecurity to its trust stack
What's the deal? FimeDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired Red Alert LabsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, an accredited cybersecurity evaluation, certification and compliance automation specialist. The terms were not disclosed. The deal adds a cybersecurity pillar to a business built over three decades on payments, digital identity and smart mobility.
What does the target do? Red Alert Labs runs an accredited, independent cybersecurity laboratory and the CyberPass platform, which automates compliance. It lets manufacturers assess and improve their readiness, while helping certification schemes scale assessment and certification.
What changes? Red Alert Labs will keep operating independently, retaining its accreditations, and will trade as "Red Alert Labs, cybersecurity by Fime." The pairing lets Fime support customers across a product's full lifecycle — from security by design and testing through to continuous assurance.
Why now? New cybersecurity rules are landing. Cyber Resilience Act reporting obligations apply from September 11, 2026, with the Act's main obligations following on December 11, 2027.
That shift means manufacturers must prove compliance on an ongoing basis, not only at launch — where Fime sees Red Alert Labs' continuous-assurance approach adding value.
What's the endgame? Fime wants to become "a global Digital Trust Provider," CEO Lionel Grosclaude said. He argued that payments, digital identity, connected devices and AI-enabled services are converging around common needs: security, interoperability, compliance and proof that technologies keep working over time.
Founder and managing director Roland Atoui said Red Alert Labs "was built around the idea that cybersecurity assurance needs to become scalable and continuous." He added that joining Fime would help extend that trust "into digital identity, wallets and emerging agentic ecosystems."
The signal: As regulation tightens and digital ecosystems interconnect, testing and certification providers are consolidating to cover the full assurance lifecycle. Fime's move folds cybersecurity under the same umbrella as its existing payments and identity work — a bet that customers increasingly want one provider for trust across the board.
