Endra buys Planlabs, launches AI electrical engineering platform after $50M raise

What's the deal? Endra, which builds AI tools for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering, has acquired Swiss AI research company PlanlabsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and launched Power Studio, an agentic platform for electrical engineering. The acquisition value was undisclosed.

What's the product? Power Studio combines electrical design, calculations, simulation, and documentation in one system. Engineers set project requirements, delegate tasks to AI agents, and review the work at each stage. Endra says it can complete the electrical design of a 500,000-square-foot commercial building in under a day, versus around two months using traditional methods.

The platform includes Playbooks for applying a firm's engineering standards across workflows, AI agents for tasks like routing and unit placement, and a physics engine that checks designs against building codes. Its document engine generates Revit models, single-line diagrams, panelboard schedules, and bills of materials.

Why the acquisition? Founded in Switzerland in 2024, Planlabs develops AI that uses geometry, data, and physics engines to automate building system design. Its five-person team joins Endra to extend the company into mechanical engineering. Endra also plans a plumbing module in 2027.

What they're saying: "Endra takes care of the repetitive work, and gives the engineers back the time for judgment and design," said Niklas Lindgren, chief executive officer and co-founder of Endra. Rea Sodero, Planlabs co-founder and CEO, said Endra "has the ambition, technology and reach to bring it to engineers around the world."

What's the endgame? Endra wants to replace fragmented MEP workflows that rely on multiple tools for calculations, design, and documentation. The Planlabs deal covers mechanical engineering; the planned 2027 plumbing module would round out all three MEP disciplines on one platform. Endra says engineers keep control of the process and that customer data is not used to train its models.

The signal: The launch and acquisition follow US$32.4M Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz, with earlier backing from Notion Capital and Norrsken VCDealroom has a profile for this one. Betting fresh capital on both an acquisition and product launch, Endra is racing to become a single AI platform across engineering disciplines that have long depended on separate, manual tools.
