Volaris Group buys UK workplace booking firm Matrix Booking

The deal, announced September 15, 2026, values Matrix Booking at an undisclosed sum. The company was bought from the Matrix Booking Employee Ownership Trust.

What each side does: Matrix Booking's software helps organisations manage how staff use physical workspace, covering room reservations and desk booking across distributed estates. Its customers include government departments, NHS organisations, and other UK public sector bodies. Volaris, an operating group of Constellation Software, acquires and grows vertical market technology companies.

Why now? Demand for workspace management has grown as UK public sector organisations shift to hybrid working and more intensive use of shared buildings.

What changes? Under Volaris's permanent ownership model, Matrix Booking will operate as a standalone business, keeping its brand, customer relationships, and operating independence. Ian Jones, chief customer officer at Matrix Booking, said customers can expect "the same teams, the same focus and the same high standards they've always had." He added that the deal means "more investment in AI and the automation that our customers are already asking for."

The signal: The acquisition adds to Constellation Software's long-running strategy of buying niche vertical software firms and holding them indefinitely rather than flipping them. For a workspace tool serving the public sector, the appeal is stable ownership and promised long-term investment.
