The AA- rated South Korean petrochemical company split the raise across a two-year tranche of US$33.5M and a three-year tranche of US$25.2M.

The catch: Despite the oversubscription, all tranches priced above individual average rates. Investors set spreads of 25 basis points over average rates on the two-year tranche and 40 basis points on the three-year tranche.

Why now? The step-up in pricing reflects institutional investors demanding higher returns amid a prolonged petrochemical downturn and the company's "negative" rating outlook. SK Geocentric had initially proposed wider indicative bands of ±40bp and ±60bp.

What's the endgame? All proceeds go to debt repayment, chiefly a US$209.6M public bond maturing on January 29. The company set a maximum upsize of US$117.4M and appointed six lead managers, including Korea Investment & SecuritiesDealroom has a profile for this one. By the numbers: SK Geocentric returned to profit with a US$143.6M operating profit in the first half of this year, after operating losses of US$23.1M in 2024 and US$124.4M in 2025. Its consolidated debt-to-equity ratio stood at 159.1%, with net debt at US$1.35B.

The signal: Strong demand shows appetite for higher-rated Korean corporate paper, but the pricing premium signals investors remain cautious on petrochemicals even as the issuer's earnings recover.
