What's the endgame? Dataworks operates regulatory-technology platforms for government customers in Australia and Canada. It will use the funds to repay debt, strengthen working capital, mobilise government programs, and selectively invest in platform and product development.

The numbers: The company says it enters the raise from a stronger position than in prior years, having generated positive operating cash flow in FY26. Executive chairman Julian Babarczy said Dataworks now runs "proven regulatory technology platforms for government customers" and has "a substantial pipeline of additional opportunities under active development."

Why now? Babarczy said the aim is to "strengthen the Company's balance sheet and provide the operating flexibility to execute on that opportunity set," funding contract mobilisation and commercial scale-up across its domestic and international pipeline.

The signal: The raise reflects a small-cap regtech player leaning into government contracts as its core growth engine, betting that a firmer balance sheet will help it convert its pipeline into recurring public-sector work.
