Metra is a vertically integrated maker of extruded aluminum profiles for rail, industrial, and building and construction markets. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027, subject to customary approvals.
Who's involved? Metra is headquartered in Rodengo Saiano, Italy, and runs nine manufacturing facilities with roughly 1,400 employees across Europe and North America. Grupa Kęty operates in aluminum extrusion, architectural and sun protection systems, and flexible packaging.
Why now? KPS acquired Metra in July 2021 and spent five years transforming it. Under KPS, Metra completed five add-on acquisitions, invested in new press capacity, and expanded into high-growth areas including rail and energy distribution.
What's the endgame? For Grupa Kęty, the acquisition adds scale and a broader global footprint in aluminum extrusion. "This combination will provide additional scale, technical depth, value-added services capabilities and a broader global footprint," said Enrico Zampedri, Metra's chief executive officer.
The rationale: Pierre de Villeméjane, a partner and co-head of KPS Mid-Cap Investments, said the deal "exemplifies KPS' investment strategy of seeing value where others do not, buying right and making businesses better." He credited Metra's leadership for the "significant value creation" under KPS ownership.
The signal: The sale marks a clean exit for KPS on an industrial platform it built through bolt-on deals and capacity investment. It also extends Grupa Kęty's push to consolidate its position in a global extrusion market where scale and value-added services increasingly determine who wins.
