Fundraise

ByteFuture raises $55M to scale local AI hardware and OS

What's the deal? ByteFuture, formerly Bytetrade, has completed a $55 million financing round, the company announced in September 2026. The raise, closed in June 2026, brings total funding to more than $100 million. ByteFuture did not disclose investors, deal structure, or its valuation.

Where's the money going? The capital will fund production and commercialization of Olares One, ByteFuture's personal AI workstation, and accelerate development of Olares OS, its open-source platform for personal AI computing. A portion will support marketing and commercial expansion in North America.

What's the endgame? ByteFuture is building an integrated personal AI computing platform spanning software, hardware, applications, and agents. Olares OS handles local AI inference, agent orchestration, and per-application sandboxing, and is designed to extend across AI PCs and other devices. Users can deploy more than 200 applications through Olares Market with one click.

Why now? The raise follows early traction for Olares One, which drew 816 backers and more than $2.3 million in pledges on Kickstarter in 2026. All Kickstarter orders have shipped, and the device is available in the US, with a broader launch planned for Q4 2026.

What's the pitch? ByteFuture wants users to run AI models and agents on hardware they control. "Our goal is to give users a practical way to run AI models and agents on hardware they control, with less dependence on centralized cloud infrastructure," said founder Peng Peng. Applications are isolated from one another to keep models, prompts, and personal data under the user's control.

The signal: The round lands as more AI workloads shift from centralized cloud to local and edge devices, raising demand for an operating system layer that manages models, agents, and data across that hardware. At $55 million, the raise sits in the upper tier of comparable rounds, a bet that the software layer for personal AI is a category worth owning.
