First Focus buys Wellington's Resolve in fourth NZ deal this year
What's the deal? Australian-founded First FocusDealroom has a profile for this one. It marks First Focus's fourth New Zealand acquisition in 2026.
Why now? Wellington was a gap in First Focus's local footprint, which already spans Auckland, Nelson, Dunedin, and Christchurch. "Wellington was an important next location for us in New Zealand and Resolve gives us a great team on the ground," said managing director Ross Sardi.
What each side brings: Founded in 2007, Resolve serves law firms, health providers, and community organisations where reliability, security, and data sovereignty matter. First Focus adds scale across AI, automation, cyber security, cloud, and managed services.
The key hire: Resolve founder Simon Falconer stays on as virtual chief AI officer. Sardi tied the appointment to demand from First Focus's CORE managed services offering, where clients want help identifying and implementing AI. "Simon's experience will strengthen our ability to deliver that same success to more clients across New Zealand," Sardi said.
The expansion: The deal adds 10 people to First Focus's small Wellington team, taking its total New Zealand staff to well over 100. The combined team is now hunting for larger offices in the capital.
What changes for customers? Existing relationships and support stay in place, with clients gaining access to First Focus's wider resources over time. "Continuity comes first — the same relationships and people they trust, with considerably more depth and capability behind them," Falconer said. The Resolve brand will be absorbed into First Focus over the next 12 months.
