ARPA-H backs five teams with up to $125M for on-demand genetic medicine manufacturing

The agency will fund up to $125 million for the research and development effort, called the Genetic Medicines and Individualized Manufacturing for Everyone (GIVE) program.

“The breakthrough manufacturing and quality control technologies needed to enable these therapies to reach patients at scale doesn’t exist yet,” said GIVE program manager John Schiel. He added that the teams will deliver it “in a matter of years, not decades.”
The signal: The award ties domestic biomanufacturing to national advantage, positioning distributed production as both a supply-chain and access play. If it works, ARPA-H expects lower costs and wider reach for advanced treatments across the US.
