Archy raises $50M Series C to automate dental back offices

What's the deal? Archy, which sells AI-powered practice-management software to independent dental offices, has raised $50 million in Series C funding, CEO Jonathan Rat told Axios exclusively. JMI EquityDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → led the round, with participation from existing investors TCV, Entrée Capital, Bessemer Venture Partners, CRV, and Alven.

What's the endgame? Archy pitches itself as an all-in-one platform combining AI agents with practice-management essentials like scheduling, charting, imaging, and patient communications. The money will fund development of AI agents that automate administrative work across practices.

By the numbers: The platform now serves more than 1,000 dental practices and processes over $300 million in payments annually.

Why now? Smaller dental offices often have nonclinical staff manually handle payments and insurance work, or they outsource it to billing firms. Archy's agents target those tasks: filing claims, collecting insurance payments, verifying coverage, and turning appointments into clinical notes.

"Dentists are quickly realizing that slapping a shiny new AI tool onto 20-year-old software running on a server in the closet doesn't fix their core operational bottlenecks," Rat said.

The signal: The round lands in the upper third of comparable deals by size, a sign that investors see appetite for AI-native software built for a single vertical rather than tools bolted onto legacy systems. For dental practices facing staffing shortages, the pitch is less about storing data and more about automating the work.
