Try Dealroom →, the French premium skincare brand for sensitive skin founded by Kenza Keller. Financial terms were undisclosed. It is the first time Caudalie, which took a minority stake in Talm in 2022, has bought a brand outright.

Who's who? Talm, an acronym for "to all the mamas," launched in 2021 as a skincare line for women during pregnancy and postpartum. Caudalie, cofounded by Mathilde and Bertrand Thomas, is a French skincare group with a strong presence in the country's pharmacy channel.

Why now? Keller said she wanted to accelerate distribution, particularly in French pharmacies where Caudalie has a strong commercial sales force. "It was the perfect fit, because I knew I could trust them and they knew they could trust me," she said.

The Thomases had mentored Keller before proposing the majority deal. "I was convinced that we could do things together," Mathilde Thomas said, citing Talm's complementary positioning.

What's the endgame? The companies plan to accelerate Talm's growth and broaden its reach internationally. "It's a great way also to protect Talm until we are one of the major brands in France and in Europe in terms of dermocosmetics," Keller said.

Talm remains independent operationally and creatively, with Keller staying on as chief executive officer to steer strategy, marketing, product development, and creative vision. The brand recently moved its office into Caudalie's Paris headquarters on Rue Pavée.

How's the brand doing? Talm has broadened beyond new mothers, positioning itself around a feminist vision of beauty that avoids terms like "antiaging." Its 2023 Mega Water mist, priced at €28, became a second bestseller used by teenagers and men as well. The line now spans 12 products.

Talm posts double-digit year-over-year sales growth and sells through about 60 doors in 12 countries, including the Middle East via OunassDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. Keller said she remains focused on strengthening Europe before expanding further.

The signal: The deal shows how established beauty groups are converting early minority stakes into full ownership to fold niche, fast-growing brands into their distribution networks. For Caudalie, pushing Talm through its pharmacy sales force is the immediate play — as Mathilde Thomas put it, "you're going to see Talm all over the pharmacies."
