Mountain Alliance buys into UK defence-tech startup Evolved Aerospace

Why now? The startup has just shifted from development to commercial delivery. Founder and chief executive officer Mikael Taveniku said its first two SkyRanger M200 systems were delivered to "a leading APAC armed services," marking its "first series deliveries to a government customer."

Who's buying? Mountain Alliance is listed on the Munich Stock Exchange and the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, and invests in technology businesses it calls "hidden champions." The stake strengthens its portfolio in defence technologies, with further deals planned across the European defence and AI space.

Dr Hans Ulrich Tetzner, a member of the management board, said modern autonomous defence systems are "a central building block in securing European sovereignty," pointing to an addressable market with "growth potential that spans generations."

The signal: European investors are moving quickly into defence technology as the region pushes for strategic autonomy. Mountain Alliance's plan for further transactions signals a broader bet that autonomous systems will reshape military procurement.
