Denmark's Seed Capital closes fifth fund at $160M after two-year raise
What's the deal? Danish venture firm Seed Capital has closed its fifth fund at 1bn kroner (about $160 million), capping a two-year fundraising process. It marks the first fund raised by Christian Brøndum, who took over as lead partner in 2023.
Why now? Brøndum was named in 2022 as successor to Ulla Brockenhuus-Schack and stepped into the role the following year. Closing the fund completes his first capital raise at the helm.
What could go wrong? The raise was slow going. Venture funds across much of the world have struggled to attract fresh capital from investors in recent years, and Seed Capital's process stretched over two years.
The signal: A 1bn-kroner close in a tight market signals that Danish venture can still draw commitments, even as global fundraising cools. It also hands new leadership the capital to back the next wave of local startups.
