MyRealTrip acquires inbound travel platform Creatrip to cover full travel spectrum
What's the deal? MyRealTrip is acquiring Creatrip, a South Korean inbound travel platform, the company said on September 11. The deal value is undisclosed, and the acquisition will be completed via a share swap.
The details: MyRealTrip's board approved the acquisition of Creatrip's shares, with the remaining procedures set to fold Creatrip in as a subsidiary within the year. MyRealTrip is buying all Creatrip shares, following a strategic investment it made in 2024.
What's the endgame? MyRealTrip has focused on outbound and domestic travel for South Koreans. Adding Creatrip lets it cover inbound travel — foreigners visiting South Korea — extending its business across the full travel spectrum.
Who is Creatrip? Founded in 2016, Creatrip introduces travel content and activities to foreigners visiting South Korea and links them to bookings with local partners. As of April 2026, it had 1.7 million monthly users, ranking first in Taiwan and second in the US and Japan by usage.
MyRealTrip chief executive officer Lee Dong-gun framed the move as completing its mission. "What travellers need is not so different, whether it is outbound, domestic, or inbound travel," he said, adding that the company aims to connect "the entire journey" of travellers at home and abroad.
Creatrip chief executive officer Lim Hye-min called the decision "a strategic choice to build greater growth on the inbound expertise Creatrip has accumulated over the past 10 years." Each service will continue operating as normal during the acquisition.
The signal: The deal points to consolidation in South Korea's travel sector, as platforms move to capture the full trip — outbound, domestic, and inbound — under one roof rather than a single segment.
