Copart to buy ACV Auctions for $1.9B in remarketing push

What's the deal? CopartDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a global online vehicle auction operator, has agreed to acquire digital automotive marketplace ACV Auctions for $10.50 per share in cash, an implied equity value of roughly $1.9 billion. The all-cash deal, announced in September 2026, gives Copart ACV's dealer-to-dealer wholesale platform and data services.

The terms: The offer marks a premium of about 45% to ACV's unaffected closing price on August 10, 2026 — the last trading day before media reports of a potential deal — and about 41% to its 30-day volume-weighted average price through September 9.

What's the endgame? Copart wants an end-to-end, fully digital remarketing platform spanning dealer trade-ins, wholesale remarketing, salvage disposition, and international resale. It plans to pair its physical footprint of more than 250 locations and global buyer network with ACV's national inspector and buyer base.

Why now? The acquisition gives Copart an immediate, scaled position in the dealer-to-dealer auction channel — a segment where ACV holds market leadership. It also adds ACV's dealer-focused vehicle-data tools to Copart's technology stack.

What they said: "This acquisition reflects a significant milestone in our growth strategy by creating an industry-leading end-to-end vehicle remarketing platform that is fully digital," said Jay Adair, chief executive officer of Copart.

ACV chief executive officer George Chamoun said the combination positions the company to "drive market expansion, and accelerate innovation with global scale," citing Copart's nationwide footprint and combined demand.

The numbers: Copart expects the deal to accelerate revenue growth and be accretive to earnings per share in fiscal 2028 and beyond.

The signal: The tie-up consolidates two ends of the vehicle remarketing market — salvage and whole-car wholesale — into a single digital pipeline. It signals a push to capture value across the full vehicle lifecycle, regardless of a car's condition or where it changes hands.
