Energy Vault secures financing for 275 MW of power for AI campuses

Between the lines: The financing structure lets Energy Vault procure equipment without tying up corporate capital before it deploys into customer projects. "By securing 275 MW of reciprocating engine generation capacity for delivery beginning in 2027, together with dedicated financing supporting the procurement, we are taking greater control over two critical elements of execution: equipment availability and capital," said Cory Magnuson, president of Asset Vault at Energy Vault.

The MTU engines are designed for mission-critical and data center applications. Their modular design supports phased deployment, and Energy Vault plans to combine them with battery storage, grid-forming power conversion, and plant controls in an integrated architecture.

The signal: Energy Vault is pivoting its infrastructure model toward the single biggest bottleneck in AI buildout — reliable power on a compute-aligned timeline. Locking in generation equipment and capital ahead of demand is a bet that speed-to-power, not just storage, is where the value sits.
