New fund

Archimed closes fourth MED fund at €1.5B hard cap, 3x oversubscribed

What's the deal? France-based healthcare investor ArchimedDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has closed its MED IV fund at its €1.5bn ($1.75bn) hard cap. The fund was three times oversubscribed, exceeding an original target of €1.2bn.

Why now? MED IV launched in January 2026 and follows the €650m MED III fund, more than doubling that vehicle's size. "The momentum behind MED IV reflects investors' confidence in our approach," said Denis Ribon, chairman and managing partner at Archimed.

Who's backing it? The fund drew a mix of existing and new investors, largely institutional limited partners including pension funds, insurance companies, and sovereign wealth funds. Europe and North America account for 80% of the investor base, split equally, with the rest of the world making up the remainder, according to Baptiste Mélinon, partner and head of investor relations.

What's the endgame? MED IV will pursue Archimed's smallcap healthcare buyout strategy, building a diversified, global portfolio through majority control transactions alongside founders, families, and management teams.

It targets priority sectors including animal and environmental health, biopharma products, consumer health, diagnostics, healthcare IT, life science tools and services, and medtech.

The signal: The oversubscription points to sustained institutional appetite for specialist healthcare buyout funds, even as capital concentrates around managers with a defined sector focus.
